A tabletop science-fiction roleplaying game of memetic horror. Ten years after the galactic war, millions of survivors try to rebuild on the frontier world of Polvo. They seek to guard their new homes from internal strife and the psychic fallout from the war.
After the War is a collaborative, independently produced game that
explores how we can rebuild in the face of trauma. It’s a game where
players learn how to lead with compassion and build something lasting.
All of you came to Polvo looking for a new beginning. You came from
somewhere else; the decadence of old Terra, the discipline of Mars, the
freedom of the Belt, or an Alien world. You survived the terrible
galactic war which marked your body and soul. A war against an
infectious idea, a memetic virus known as The Song.
You came to
Polvo looking for a refuge, a hope, and an opportunity. You thought you
were joining a community of strangers, and built a home. Terrible
things lurk in the wreckage of the war and the shadows of your minds.
It’s up to you to keep your people safe After the War.
After the War is a 358 page black and white 6X9 book, by Alasdair Stuart & Jason Pitre. It is inspired by media like The Expanse, Star Trek, Firefly, Mass Effect and The Belle Dame Apocrypha. Mechanically it shares a great deal with the Spark RPG, but also draws on and is inspired by Apocalypse World, Dream Askew / Apart, How We Came to Live Here, and Dread.
